Hitachi Announces Universal RFOG Solution for Cable TV Operators

 
Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc. today announced a new capability of the company’s AMN1220 GPON product solution aimed at helping cable TV operators future-proof their networks – and their revenue positions. The Hitachi solution, which is compatible with the emerging RFOG (RF Over Glass) initiative, provides a fiber optic connection from the headend to the subscriber. The Node+Zero solution leverages existing headend equipment, minimizes active components in the outside plant and supports targeted bandwidth increases and provides opportunities for immediate revenue from subscribers in the target locations.

Hitachi and ARRIS Team Up to Offer Specialized MDU Services Using the ARRIS CXMTM High Speed Internet Access Solution and Hitachi AMN1220 GPON Platform

 
Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc. today announced that the ARRIS CXMTM High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) solution will be marketed with Hitachi’s AMN1220 Gigabit Passive Optical Networking (GPON) system to provide high speed Internet access services for hotels and other high occupancy MDU facilities. The combined solution, which will be marketed by Hitachi in the North America, blends the best of high-capacity fiber optic service delivery with the ability to provide data services to a large number of users within a building over existing coaxial cable.

Hitachi GPON Solution Featured at ITU FTTP Interoperability Showcase at NXTcomm 2007

 
Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc., today announced that the company’s AMN1220 Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) solution will play a critical role in the ITU’s Fiber To The Premises (FTTP) Interoperability Showcase at NXTcomm 2007. The GPON Pavilion, booth #7408, features technology based on the ITU G.984-series recommendations for 2488/1244 Mbps systems. Hitachi’s AMN1220 Optical Line Terminal (OLT) will operate in the central area of the booth, and will interconnect with Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) from multiple vendors as well as Hitachi’s AMN1220 GST (Gigabit Single Family/Business Terminal), located at the Hitachi kiosk within the GPON Pavilion.

Falcon Broadband to Deploy Hitachi GPON Solution In Colorado Springs Area

 
Hitachi’s AMN1220 GPON product has been selected by Falcon Broadband of Colorado Springs, CO to deliver triple play services in Falcon’s service area in Colorado Springs and surrounding areas. The Falcon Broadband deployment represents the first residential commercial deployment by a cable television operator in the United States of GPON, further cementing the concept that GPON is the solution of choice for the efficient delivery of broadband triple play services.

Hitachi AMN1220 Fiber to the Premises System Is First GPON Product to Receive USDA-RUS Acceptance

 
Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc. today announced that the company’s AMN1220 GPON product has been accepted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Utilities Service (RUS) for deployment under the Rural Development Broadband Loan and Loan Guarantee Program. RUS acceptance means that communities of up to 20,000 inhabitants can now install Hitachi’s AMN1220 GPON Fiber to the Premises solution using funding obtained under the USDA Rural Development funding programs.

Hitachi AMN1220 GPON Fiber to the Premises System Recognized as Nortel Compatible Product

 
Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc. today announced that the company’s AMN1220 GPON product has successfully completed laboratory interoperability testing with the Nortel Communication Server 2000 (CS 2000), a carrier grade softswitch that can scale up to 2,000,000 Busy Hour Call Attempts (BHCA). The Nortel CS 2000 provides transport of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) traffic in Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) format.

Hitachi and Ledcor Technical Services to Present Leveraged GPON Deployment Case Study at Digital City Expo 2007

 
Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc., and Ledcor Technical Services (LTS) today announced that the two companies will jointly present a case study entitled “Leveraged Deployment of GPON Technology - Coquille, Oregon.” The presentation will describe how the Coquille project, currently underway, leverages the existing fiber to the premises (FTTP) deployment in nearby Bandon, Oregon. The case study will be presented at the Digital City Expo Conference, to be held in Reston, Virginia on April 2-4, 2007 (See www.digitalcityexpo.com). Ledcor Technical Services to Deploy Hitachi GPON Solution in Coquille, Oregon

 
Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc., today announced that Ledcor Technical Services (LTS) and ComSpan-Bandon Networks will bring the fiber optic network that is now successfully operating in Bandon, Oregon to the town of Coquille. Coquille is a town of approximately 4,000 on the Coquille River, about 17 miles inland from Bandon. Construction has already begun, with completion planned for the third quarter, 2007.

Hitachi AMN1220 GST is first MoCA-certified GPON Optical Network Terminal

 
Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc. and the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA-TM) today announced that Hitachi’s AMN1220 GST is the first GPON ONT to be certified by MoCA. The combination of GPON and MoCA allows service providers to maximize revenue potential by offering new and enhanced services using the high bandwidth and applications flexibility provided by GPON, and by encouraging subscriber adoption of these services using the MoCA in-home networking solution. Within a residence, the MoCA standard establishes a “MoCA LAN” between MoCA-enabled devices, supporting bi-directional communications among the devices.

Bandon, Oregon turning up services using Hitachi GPON equipment

 
Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc., today confirmed that the company’s AMN1220 GPON Fiber-To-The-Premises (FTTP) solution is currently being used to turn up video, data, and voice services in Bandon, Oregon. The Bandon network will be formally inaugurated in a public “Light Up Bandon” ceremony on June 21. The network is being implemented by the service provider, ComSpan Bandon Networks, which is a join venture of ComSpanUSA and Ledcor Technical Services, Ltd. (LTS).

Dumont Telephone Company chooses Hitachi for Fiber-to-the-Home projects

 
Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc., today announced that Dumont Telephone Company, Dumont, Iowa, has selected Hitachi’s AMN1220 Gigabit Passive Optical Networking (GPON) platform for the delivery of triple play services in the city of Dumont and surrounding areas. Part of a seven-year plan by Dumont Telephone to provide fiber optic connectivity throughout the company’s service area, the initial deployment will begin this month, with about 100 subscribers with in the city of Dumont.

Hitachi announces order for its AMN1220 Gigabit Passive Optical Network system

 
Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT) and Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc., today announced that the company’s AMN1220 GPON Fiber-To-The-Premises (FTTP) solution will be deployed in Bandon, Oregon. On August 26, 2005, the City of Bandon accepted a proposal from ComSpanUSA, in association with its development partner, Ledcor Technical Services (LTS), to design, build and operate an FTTP network in Bandon and the surrounding area. Hitachi’s AMN1220 GPON solution was selected to deliver triple play services, including data, video and voice services.

Hitachi introduces Gigabit Passive Optical Network system for advanced Fiber-To-The-Premises networks

 
Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT) and Hitachi Telecom (USA), Inc. today announced details of the company’s new AMN1220 family of GPON optical access solutions. Compliant with all ITU-T G.984 standards and FSAN recommendations, the AMN1220 provides data rates of 2.488Gbit/s downstream and 1.244Gbit/s upstream. The product is based on GPON Encapsulation Mode (GEM) framing, allowing TDM services such as T1 to be handled in their native formats. The AMN1220 will be generally available in the first quarter 2006.

One Million Japanese Customers Now Have Fiber-To-The-Home

 
Right now, according to numbers released by the Japanese government, there are more than one million fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) customers in Japan – and 80,000 to 90,000 more are added each month. By comparison, the U.S. FTTH market is minuscule and nascent. Scott Wilkinson, Assistant Vice President at Hitachi Telecom, wrote this article which originally appeared in the September 2004 issue of Broadband Properties Magazine.

Hitachi announces general availability of triple-play residential terminal for FTTH market

 
Hitachi, Ltd.
